Carna Farmhouse - Sleeping 6 people
Information - Wildlife seen
Looking for a retreat? The Island of Carna is a perfect destination to escape modern living.
Amazing value! Accommodation includes your own boat (plus safety equipment & full instruction) plus your own private island (only 2 other cottages).
One of the best locations in the UK for seeing and photographing otters in their natural habitat.
Carna is one of the 1214 Marilyns that can be found in Scotland and has an abundance of history dating back to prehistoric times. Lots of wildlife on your doorstep including regular visits from Otters, Eagles, both Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles, Red Deer and much more.
Turn back the clock, Carna is a beautiful, remote place where children can play, adults explore, relax, fish or watch wildlife in their natural habitat.
600 acre privately owned Island.

The cottage is basic but clean, warm, comfortable all year round, well equipped and comes with amazing views from all windows. There is a multifuel stove in living room which heats radiators.
Sleeps 4 (maximum 6) in two bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin with extra beds available in the living room. When people are sleeping in the living room there is access to the kitchen, conservatory and bathroom without disturbing them.
All transfers to and from Carna, gas, wood / coal, electricity, towels and linen included.
Electrical power by automatic generator.
5 metre self drive pioner multi boat with all instruction, equipment, chart and life jackets provided.
Own pontoon for mooring purposes, facilities to bring your own boat, launching from Ardnamurchan Charters facilities at Laga Bay.
VHF Radio link to mainland provided to ensure your safety, limited mobile telephone reception.
Gas cooker and fridge freezer.
Transport on and off Carna included (usually by the charter boat Laurenca)

There are two other properties on the island. The closest at, 300m away, can be seen from your house and is a rented holiday house like yours. The second around the bay out of view is a privately owned, not let - second home only, visited a few times through the year.
Passer by’s and visitors are permitted on the island under Scottish law but we find this rarely happens as it is a remote and secluded island.

We are a small established family business offering accommodation, Charter
Boat and Self Drive Boat Hire on Loch Sunart.
During the summer months we run regular trips to the Treshnish Isles
and Whale watching trips. We also have trips to Tobermory on Isle of Mull.
Isolation is not complete on the island as we provide a VHF radio for
daily contact and emergency use. There are full written instructions
and we will ensure you are completely happy with using the radio before
being left. We are less than 10 minutes away by boat if you need assistance.
We can provide fishing rods free of charge but not terminal gear (weights
& feathers etc) either bring your own or we can supply them at cost
price.
Fish to be caught in the loch include pollock, coalfish, ling, congar,
cod, dogfish, wrasse, skate (204llbs caught in 2003) rays, spurdog and
mackerel.
